About the Artist
Tori M. Briggs is a Houston based photographer, director, and mixed-media artist who yearns to capture truth and authenticity through her work.
Drawing inspiration from the vibrant history and rhythmic landscapes of her hometown, New Orleans, Tori’s practice traverses the boundaries between portraiture and abstraction. In her photography work, Tori’s lens focuses on portraits and capturing the essence of everyday life throughout Houston and New Orleans.
Working across a dynamic range of media including acrylics, oil pastels, charcoal, and photography, Tori constructs layered narratives that explore identity, lineage, and the multifaceted nature of the Black experience. One of her pieces, Othered, was featured in Between Lines and Faces, a group exhibition at the Lawndale Art Center in Houston, Texas as part of The Big Show 2025.
As Tori continues to build her practice, she hopes to bring transformation into any and all spaces to connect the idea of art existing as an extension of prayer.
